Anteaters victorious, 4-3

A win at No. 4 singles by senior Amy Tranckino in her last home match

lifted UC Irvine past Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 4-3, in women’s

tennis action Saturday.

Tranckino defeated Kristen Grady 6-1, 7-6 for the winning team

point as the Anteaters improved to 12-8 overall and 4-1 in Big West

Conference duals.

The win also sent Cal Poly to its first conference loss of the

season as the Mustangs dropped to 15-6 overall and 6-1 in conference

matches.

After Cal Poly claimed the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3

doubles, the Anteaters received singles wins from Tiffany Chang at

No. 1, Anna Bentzer at No. 3, Kristina Boss at No. 5 and Tranckino.

Bentzer improved to 18-5 in singles this season with her 6-1, 6-0

victory over Chelsey Thompson at No. 3.

UCI closes out its regular-season schedule with road matches at

Cal State Northridge Thursday and UC Riverside April 16 before

competing in the Big West Conference Championships at Danville, April

24-27.
