Anteaters hand Trojans a loss

Spencer Bemus had 21 kills and Jimmy Pelzel added 20 kills to lead

the seventh-ranked UC Irvine Anteaters to a 30-27, 30-32, 30-21,

30-26 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation mens’ volleyball victory

Saturday night on the loser’s floor.

The Anteaters improved to 18-9, 11-9 in the MPSF. USC, playing its

final home match of the season, dropped its sixth straight to the

Anteaters to fall to 6-23, 2-18.

UCI outhit (.397 to .236) and outblocked (22.5 to 6.0) the

Trojans.

Bemus hit .515 and had eight blocks. Pelzel hit .354 and had six

blocks. Kyle Weichert hit .626 with 11 kills and had eight blocks,

and Nick Vaslay had a match-best 12 blocks.
