Lightning edged, 7-6

Sage Hill School junior Tim Wilkins went 4 for 4 with two doubles and
a home run and pitched six-plus innings, leaving the game with his
team in front, 6-4. But host Oxford Academy rallied for three in the
seventh to post a 7-6 Academy League baseball win Friday in Cypress.
The winning rally started with a dropped fly ball to center field
and a hit, to bring on a reliever for Wilkins.
A two-run triple by Juan Thompson followed to tie the game at 6-6.
After Sage walked two intentionally to load the bases and set up a
force, a single up the middle won it for the Patriots, who improved
to 10-0, 5-0 in league.
It was the second straight one-run league loss for the Lightning,
which fell to 3-4-1, 2-3.
Sophomore David Packard also homered for the visitors, who had six
extra-base hits among their eight hits on the day.
Oxford had two homers among its 10 hits.
Sage Hill committed three errors, but only one Oxford run was
unearned.
