A GROWING BAKERY
In conjunction with its professional cooking programs, the Laguna
Culinary Arts Bakery will offer a wide selection of breads, pastries,
cakes and confectionary goodies. Cappuccinos, sandwiches and salads
will also be available during the bakery’s 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekday
hours. It hopes to offer weekend hours beginning in June.
POSTCARDS FROM LAGUNA
Laguna Outreach Community Arts will hold a workshop as part of its
weekly Art Escapes program. Artist Joan Corman will demonstrate,
using paint, paper and found objects, how to create unique postcards.
The class will start at 2 p.m. at the Pottery Shack, 1212 S. Coast
Highway. The class costs $20, plus $5 for materials. Reservations are

ANTI-REVETMENT
Surfrider Foundation’s Laguna Beach chapter will hold a 7 p.m.
meeting at Wells Fargo Bank to discuss plans to build a seawater
desalination plant in Dana Point. The evening’s two speakers, South
Coast Water District General Manager Mike Dunbar and Mike Lewis from
Surfrider’s San Clemente chapter, will also discuss diversions from
the storm drain system into the sewer system. Surfrider is seeking
support for a campaign against a development proposed at Dana Strand
Beach that would include the construction of a revetment about the
size of the Dana Point Harbor breakwater. Surfrider has started a
petition opposing this revetment proposal, which will be submitted to

Dog Ranch Bed and Biscuit will host a free talk by a local dog
nutrition expert at 10 a.m. Nancy Adams is the owner and operator of
“Furry Foods,” a pet food and supply business that offers home
delivery of only high-quality pet products. From Nancy’s extensive
research, regular contact with industry professionals and customer
feedback, she has acquired valuable knowledge that she uses to help
customers improve the overall health and longevity of their pets.

IT’S YOUR ESTATE
The SchoolPower Endowment and Capital Fund, the Laguna Canyon
Foundation, and the American Red Cross will sponsor an eight-week
educational workshop that will cover whether the new estate tax law
is helpful or not, the disadvantages of a living trust, and how to
obtain “must have” health care legal documents for less than $5. The
sessions will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday through
June 4 in the third floor community room at the Wells Fargo Building,
260 Ocean Ave. Seating is limited and reservations are required.

The Laguna Beach Senior Center hosts a monthly USDA surplus food

The South Coast YMCA will offer a new class that addresses
functional strength, balance and stability for seniors. Led by a
certified senior fitness associate and YMCA instructor, the classes

The SilverSneakers Fitness classes is an ongoing series designed
for strengthening and conditioning. The self-paced classes are taught

trained YMCA fitness instructor using skinfold and girth
