Newport business catches fire
The Grant Boys, a single-story Newport Beach business, was in
flames on Saturday evening.
The Costa Mesa Fire Department, responding to reports that came in
at 7:23 p.m., discovered smoke coming from the roof and the north
side of the structure, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported. About 35 firefighters were at the
scene, and the fire was contained by 7:35 p.m., within 12 minutes of
their being dispatched, officials said.
Fire investigation determined the cause of the fire to be
electrical.
The estimated damage to the structure was $5,000. Smoke damage to
the contents of the building has not been determined. The last fire
units left the scene at about 9:38 p.m. after completing
investigation duties.
