Goal de Locks, a local girls’ under-12 Division team, won two more
games in the second round of the AYSO Area K playoffs.
Goal de Locks, which just last week went 3-0-1 on the first
weekend of postseason play, defeated Region 117, 2-0, and Region 55,
2-1.
In their first game last weekend, Hope Garski scored off a Brianna
Webster pass to give Goal de Locks a 1-0 halftime advantage.
That score stood until the fourth quarter when an Erika Longoria
goal pushed the lead to 2-0.
The defensive play of Teresa Bandurian, Vicky Hill, Arielle
Freleaux and Kristy Verone held Region 117 scoreless.
Against Region 55, Goal de Locks overcame a 1-0 deficit to post a
2-1 victory.
Down a goal, Alison Hensley scored off a Freleaux assist to put
Goal de Locks into a 1-1 tie at the half. In the third period, Hayley
Townsend scored the decisive goal off a cross from Hensley to give
Goal de Locks its first lead.
From there, the defensive efforts of Shannon Bolotin, George
Demes, Jessica Parker and Stephanie Layton denied Region 55 any
further scoring opportunities.
