Evan Marmol

Colin Farrell and Al Pacino immerse us in the clandestine world of

the CIA operative.

“The Recruit” sums up the much-maligned agency and the sentiment

of this film with this phrase “everything is a test.” Farrell is

drawn in by the hope of solving the haunting puzzle of his father’s

untimely demise.

This tantalizing wish is dangled mockingly by Pacino, who exploits

it to motivate and manipulate Farrell. Their performances combine for

a thrilling film that exceeds expectations and never fails to

surprise.

Phenomenally cast and expertly delivered, “The Recruit” supplies

ample suspense and action to earn the undivided attention of its

audience.

Farrell superbly elevates his acting skills to convincingly play

opposite the venerated Pacino.

Farrell’s ordeal marvelously transports us into a serpentine world

where no one can be trusted and nothing should be taken at face

value.

“The Recruit” evokes our deepest cynicism with the government and

our deepest fears that conspiracies exist that are beyond our

control.

“The Recruit” is breathtaking and absolutely spellbinding. Each

sequence is painstakingly conceived, elaborately designed and dished

out with panache.
