The Huntington Beach High football team just missed a Top 10
ranking in the latest CIF Southern Section Division I poll.
The Oilers, at 4-2, were listed among an “others” group that
included only East Valley (4-1-1) of Redlands.
Prior to the release Tuesday of the latest Division I poll,
Huntington Beach was coming off a 41-21 loss to Los Alamitos.
The Griffins, 5-0-1 overall, are ranked second in the latest
Division I poll, trailing only defending division champion, Long
Beach Poly (5-1).
The Sunset League is represented in the Top 10 by Esperanza, which
came in at No. 3. But, there is certain to be a mix-up in next week’s
rankings. One team will fall from the ranks of the unbeaten when
Esperanza (6-0) battles Los Alamitos Saturday at Valencia High in
Placentia.
