GREEN ON:
* City Council districts:
I am opposed to splitting Huntington Beach into five council
districts because it does not provide better representation to the
citizens.
* Proposition 50:
I am in support of Proposition 50. I will fight to ensure that
Huntington Beach receives its fair share of the funds available for
the acquisition of the mesa and clean water issues.
* Development:
Huntington Beach should encourage quality business and development
that increases our sales tax base, provides jobs and offers
entertainment. This will attract visitors and residents alike to
“Shop, Play & Stay” in our community. The increased revenue from
these types of development will fund the citizen services like public
safety, a new senior center and a nature park we all want without
raising fees or taxes.
* Water quality
The quality of life in Huntington Beach depends on clean water,
pristine beaches and restored wetlands. Huntington State Beach
continues to receive an “F” because of surf zone bacteria. The
source(s) of these
bacteria must be identified and controlled. We must continue to
divert storm drains to the Orange County Sanitation District. This
water must be cleaned to drinking water standards and be injected
into our aquifer to prevent salt water intrusion and provide water.
* Biggest issue facing Huntington Beach:
The biggest issue facing Huntington Beach is the budgetary crisis
and the need to balance the annual budget
at a time of decreasing revenues. To provide quality services to
the citizens without raising taxes is a tremendous challenge.
