Bull’s-eye for winning Silver Bullets

Two second-half goals by the Silver Bullets snapped a 1-1 halfime
tie and propelled them to a 3-1 victory over the Dirty Dozen in boys
under-12 AYSO Region 57 youth soccer action.
Camden Nicholson and Ori Tabak each scored one goal in the second
half. Tommy Bangert, Scott Berkhausen, Jamie Heinecke and Alex
Mainthow played solid for the Bullets.
Bullets’ goalkeeper Connor Benvenuti stopped five scoring chances
by the Dirty Dozen to preserve the win.
Kevin Corrigan, Anthony Francisco, Jonathan Jaffee and Kumi
Chehabi helped in the win.
In Girls under-12 play:
* The Blue Crush won its game Saturday, 4-1, with Megan Gaal and
Amanda Johnson each scoring goals and Laura Kopel added two more
scores on assists by Megan Wilson and Bryn Hastings.
Jaclyn Risser and Annalise Moore played strong defense and
goalkeeper Michelle Lancaster made several saves.
* Vipers 1, Patriots 1
The Vipers and Patriots both played strong defense to limit the
opposition’s offense.
For the Vipers, Korinne Kornmann made key saves and Emily Baker,
Shaye Bastien and Mackenzie Constantinou held off challenges by Alexa
Rome and the Patriots offense.
The Patriots in turn held off a fourth-quarter offensive push by
the Vipers with Andie Dubis nearly scoring on a corner kick by Rene
Mycorn. Marisa Cummings, Jenna Engstrom, Kelly Marshall and Sophie
Molanari all played well.
The Patriots scored first with Alexa Cohen scoring on a pas from
Kathryn Conner. The Vipers tied the game on a strong shot by Michelle
Zucker.
In Girls under-11 action:
* Corona del Mar Hotspurs 2, Yorba Linda Untouchables 0
The Hotspurs moved to 4-1-1 on the season with a shut out win.
Goals by Sydney Brombal and Katie Deverian, with an assist from
Bayli Stefl, and solid goalkeeping by Sarah Folkes sealed the
victory.
Brooke Demiranda, Kelly Feeley, Laura Fleming, Nikki Flinn, Haley
Raguse, Maddie Simmonds, Hanna Stuart, Isa Taskinen and Kyla Winkle
also helped the Hotspurs in the shutout.
CdM battles Newport Beach Girls under-11 APP Plus team Saturday at
11 a.m. at Kaiser Elementary in Costa Mesa.
In Boys under-10 action:
* Vipers 3, Team USA 2
Joe Ctvrtlik scored the game-winning goal and Blake Thomsen scored
two goals to lead the Vipers.
Tobi Isaksen, Billy MacDonald and Kiefer Cohen provided offensive
support.
Swarming defense was given by Saahm Aresh, Sam Parks and Connor
Morrill and steady goaltending by Justin Ruffalo and Scott Youngman.
In Girls under-10 play:
* Dragonslayers 2, Pink Princess 1
Katie Bethel scored two goals for the Dragonslayers against the
previously-unbeaten Pink Princess.
Megan Kim provided strong passing and Katelyn Baker, Sydney Raguse
and Maya Vega stopped Princess attacks with their defense.
Hayden Caves and Kathleen Gronendyke also contributed to the
Dragonslayers’ victory.
In Girls under-7 play:
* Noelle Gooding scored three goals for the Panthers as they
battled the Soccer Sisters Saturday.
Paige Larsh, Katie Curci, Marissa Fink and Jenna Rose Alder all
connected for goals and Lauren Cairns and Alexis Case moved the ball
through the midfield for the Panthers.
Isabella Hill and Melanie Holmen played strong defense.
* The Tidal Waves dueled the Teeny-Wahini Saturday.
Ava Nelson scored three goals in the game, her third on a bicycle
kick and Ailani Hause, Sophia Evans and Logan Warwick supported the
offense, controlled the midfield and played well on defense.
Jasmine O’Hea, Bella Gallardo, Becky Gula and Charlotte Belling
thwarted many offensive attacks and goalkeeper Kasey Thompson made
several sprawling saves.
Molly Anderson hustled as both striker and goalie. Audrey Bruscia
took a shot to the stomach but returned.
