Despite a sore hip, Costa Mesa High junior Christine Bjelland ran
at an easier pace than usual and won the girls race, as the Mustangs’
girls cross country team defeated Golden West League visitor Orange,
27-32, Thursday. The Orange boys country team displayed its prowess
as the Panthers took the top five spots to win.
Bjelland finished 20:29 and led the Mustangs (2-1 in league) to
their second win of the season.
For the Costa Mesa boys (0-3), sophomore Marco Herrera (16:32),
Carlos Ibarra (16:35) and Marco Huipe (17:02) went 7-8-9.
