Slickshoes, Chiefs advance

The Slickshoes and Chiefs turned back all comers last week to
advance to the championship game of the Norris Division playoffs.
The Slickshoes reached the title game by beating the Carnivores,
4-0. The Chiefs earned a spot by eliminating the Panthers, 5-2.
Slickshoes 4, Carnivores 0
Keith Fronk and Ethan Loy each scored two goals and Kyle Day
recorded the shutout as the regular season Slickshoes, the
tournament’s top seed, blanked the fourth-seeded Carnivores.
Kristian Burkhardt assisted two goals and Troy Loggins picked up
an assist.
Day got the shutout on 12 saves.
Chiefs 5, Panthers 2
The second-seeded Chiefs broke away from a 2-2 tie by outscoring
the Panthers, 3-0, in the final period of play.
Matthew Drozdowski led all scorers with three goals, Dallas Heyden
had a goal and assist, Matt Korn scored once, and Julien Laux, Ryan
Couey and Jordan Sanders each had an assist to complete the Chiefs’
offense.
Eric Grant recorded 14 saves.
Jacob Shaver and Jason Wong each scored goals, Aaron Humenik and
Zach Dickson each had an assist, and Charles Condron had 16 saves for
the No. 3 seed Panthers.
In Wales Division playoff action:
The Avengers and Timberwolves each won playoff games to advance to
the division final.
Avengers 3, Roller Rebels 2
The top-seeded Avengers scored three goals in the second period of
play, and then held off the Roller Rebels to reach the title game.
Ryin Amador had a goal and assist, Jake Galaviz and Nathan DeBoom
each had a goal, and Chad Millar recorded an assist for the Avengers.
Jaryd Mason limited the fourth-seeded Roller Rebels to their two
goals on 18 saves.
The Roller Rebels’ scoring came from goals by Tyler Bertrand and
Travis Miller.
Tyler Post recorded 19 saves.
Timberwolves 4, Lightning 3
This tightly-contested match saw the second-seeded Timberwolves
come up with a balanced offense attack. Jeremy Cacal scored two
goals, Martin DeJong and Bradley Kachigan each scored once and Tip
Donaldson got an assist.
Adam O’Connor got the win on 13 saves.
Spencer Layman scored all three goals to pace the sixth-seeded
Lightning. Michael Mowrey, Scott Fitfield and Spenser Ono each had an
assist, and Garrett Ono had 18 saves.
