TENNIS: DOUBLES CLINIC ON TAP
COSTA MESA -- A special ladies doubles clinic will be held today
at Costa Mesa Tennis Center for all Orange County women’s league
participants, an event sponsored by the Orange County Community
Tennis Association.
In anticipation of the Diadora Pro Championships to be held at
Costa Mesa the following weekend, local teaching pros will present
this on-court doubles seminar beginning at 8:30 a.m. On hand will be
Phil Dent, Syd Ball, Tim Pawsat, Debbie Graham, Eliot Telscher and
Hank Lloyd, the facility’s director.
A $5 donation to the OCCTA will be taken at the site prior to

POLO: CDM, NEWPORT RANKED 3-5
The Corona del Mar High boys water polo team is ranked No. 3 in
Division I in the preseason coaches’ poll.
The Sea Kings, the defending Pacific Coast League champions,
operate under new head coach Tim Salvino.
Newport Harbor is ranked No. 5 and is coached by Jason Lynch.

VOLLEYBALL: VANGUARD FALLS
Vanguard University women’s volleyball team dropped a 30-13,
30-24, 30-18 Golden State Athletic Conference decision at Cal Baptist
in Riverside Tuesday night.
VU is 3-4, 0-2 in the GSAC.

GOLF: OCC WOMEN BREEZE
COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College women’s golf team began its
season against the best Monday and the results were, well, true to
form.
Visiting Mt. San Antonio College, ranked No. 1 in California, earned a 307-354 nonconference victory over the Pirates at the Costa
Mesa Golf & Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.
Freshmen Joanne Durocher (85), Marilyn Pope (86), Gina Watkins
(87) and Alura Sumpter (96) scored for the Pirates.
