Dwyer named All-CIF

Ben Dwyer, a setter on the Laguna Beach High boys’ volleyball team,

has been named to the All-CIF Southern Section Division IV team, as

announced by the Southern Section office in Cerritos.

Dwyer, a senior and one of the Artists’ team leaders throughout the

season, was named second team.

He was one of seven seniors named to the eight-member second team.

Twenty-four players comprise three All-CIF teams in Division IV. Of

those 24, only seven were underclassmen and all were juniors this past

season.

One of those players was Dwyer’s teammate, outside hitter Matt

Anderson, who was a first team selection and the only underclassmen named

to the team.

Both Dwyer and Anderson were named to the 2002 All-Pacific Coast

League.

The Division IV player of the year was senior middle blocker Matt

McKinney of division champion Santa Ynez. Coach of the year was John

Gaido of Northwood, one of Laguna Beach’s chief Pacific Coast League

rivals and winner of the 2002 PCL title.
