AG Edwards won seven of its final eight games down the stretch of the
2002 Little League regular season to earn a second place finish in the
tough South Coast Juniors League.
The Laguna Beach-based squad, one of two to represent the city in the
league, was just 5-3 after eight games, but went on a tear in the second
half of the season, posting a 7-1 record.
They finished 12-4 overall in a league that included four teams from
San Clemente and three more from San Juan Capistrano.
“This is the most improved team I have ever coached,” coach Gary Rauch
said.
Leading the way in the AG Edwards outfield were Max Caputo, Dylan
Haifley, Max Hilburn, Alex Mars, Tyler Palmer and Ryley Thorton.
The infield was anchored by Jonathan Begay, Thomas Cannon, Bobby
Monroe and Garrett Rauch.
Handling most of the pitching and catching duties were Kevin Kelly and
Jody Stevens.
