CORONA DEL MAR - Not enough accolades can go around for the
Cardinals hitting attack and steady defense in the final innings that
erased a two-run deficit and gave the Cardinals a 7-6 win over the Bulls
in Corona del Mar Pony Baseball play.
Trailing, 5-3, in the bottom of the sixth, the Cardinal bats suddenly
came alive.
Kelsey Chase led off the inning with a double, and was followed by
Jaffer Kattan reaching base on a third strike passed ball. Kyle
Schneekluth then tied the score with an RBI triple and came around to
score on a sacrifice fly to center by Ryan Lance. Andrew Dialynis singled
and scored on Hunt Rychel’s base hit.
The Bulls mounted a rally in the seventh, scoring a run, but the
Cardinals defense proved too strong.
Andrew Dialynis threw to catcher Jamie Kline, who tagged the tying
runner out at the plate.
Kyle Schneekluth then struck out the final two batters with the tying
runs on first and third to preserve the win.
The Cardinals clinched at least a tie for first place with the win.
The Bulls scored three runs early to grab a 3-0 lead, but the Cards
countered in the bottom of the first on a single by Lance, who scored on
a triple by Dialynis.
