CORONA DEL MAR - Corona del Mar High opens its CIF Southern Section
Division V boys tennis playoff push today as the No. 1 seed at home
against Sage Hill, runner-up in the Academy League. The match begins at
3:15 p.m.
CdM, coached by Tim Mang, capped an upbeaten 2001 season by winning
the Division V title. CdM won the Division I title in 1999.
This season, the Sea Kings are 20-2, with both losses coming to PCL
champion University.
Last week, CdM’s top-seeded doubles team of junior Garrett Snyder and
freshman Carsten Ball defeated No. 2-seeded Mike Haier and Matt Chou from
University, 6-4, 6-4, to claim the PCLdoubles title.
Snyder and Ball will compete in the CIF individual preliminaries
Sunday at four sites.
With a win, CdM would advance to meet the St. Margaret’s-Beaumont
winner Thursday.
