Newport Beach police arrested a 34-year-old Los Angeles man who
allegedly stabbed two men after a fight Saturday night at a wedding
reception, police said.
Police arrested Ramon Cuebas on suspicion of attempted murder after he
allegedly stabbed a security guard in the hand and a male guest in the
upper body at the reception at Temple Bat Yahm at 1011 Camelback St., said Newport Beach Police Lt. John Freeman.
Police did not identify the victims, but said the guest was in stable
condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana while the security guard
was treated at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian for minor wounds to
his hands, Freeman said.
Cuebas also suffered injuries to his hands, “quite possibly from his
own knife,” Freeman said.
Cuebas was also taken to Hoag, but was released and remains at Orange
County Jail on $250,000 bail.
Police on Sunday did not know what started the fight, Freeman said.
About 300 people attended the reception.
