Ronstadt to come back with Fiesta Navidad

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County recently announced that

singer Linda Ronstadt will reprise her performance this winter for the

Philharmonic’s annual Fiesta Navidad concert.

Last year, Ronstadt performed with mariachi bandleader Nati Cano, who

she became friends with through working on “Canciones de Mi Padre,” her

GrammyAward-winning album.

Tickets are $20-$69 and are on sale now. The concert will be held on

Dec. 12 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center

Drive, Costa Mesa.

Summer of ‘Side Man’ at OCC

Orange Coast College’s Theatre Department will present a varied menu

of shows this summer.

Opening the season will be playwright Warren Leight’s “Side Man,” a

Tony Award-winning tribute to jazz musicians that centers around a man

almost blindly devoted to his music. The play will be staged June 20-22

and 27-29 at OCC’s Drama Lab Theatre.

David Scaglione’s “Stone Soup,” an adaptation of the folk tale about

three soldiers in the Napoleonic wars, will be staged July 11-13 and

18-20 at the Robert B. Moore Theatre.

The Repertory Theatre Company’s One-Act Play Festival will follow July

20-21 and 27-28 in the Drama Lab Studio.

And “Supersonic Shakespeare” will close the season. The comedy

includes a 45-minute version of “The Comedy of Errors” and Tom Stoppard’s

“The 15-Minute Hamlet.” The show will be staged July 26-27 and Aug. 2-3

at OCC’s Fine Arts Patio Amphitheater.

Eclectic Orange announces its schedule

This year’s Eclectic Orange Festival will feature 10 new events, 34

performances of everything from dance to opera and a United

States-exclusive run of Theatre Zingaro’s equestrian ballet work

“Triptyk.”

The program additions include West Coast premiere performances by the

French company Ballet Preljocaj; a Persian music performance; composer

Ivan Moody’s “Passion and Resurrection” performed by vocal group Cappella

Romana; and more.

Tickets went on sale last month.

The fourth annual festival runs Oct. 12 to Nov. 10.
