TODAY

The Academy for the Performing Arts Music Department will be

performing its spring music concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Huntington Beach

Auditorium, 1905 Main St. It will be an evening of orchestral and vocal

music with selections of classical, contemporary, jazz and original

SATURDAY

“Earth Day Expo 2002” is planned for Saturday at the Huntington Beach

Pier. Golden West College is sponsoring the event, which is scheduled for

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Booths set up at the event will offer helpful tips

about saving energy and recycling trash. There will be a rock-climbing

wall. Edison will have a booth informing people how to save energy. The

event is free and will take place at Pier Plaza.

SUNDAY

The Huntington Beach Central Library will present “Celebrating Our

Community” a program that features the Middle East. There will be

traditional middle eastern music and dancing. Tickets may be purchased at

the door and are $10 for adults, $2 for children ages 4 to 11 and $5 for

MONDAY

The Tumble-N-Kids program is offering gymnastics classes for children

ages 10 months to 12 years starting April 8. Classes run for eight weeks.

Three new classes have been added: Teeny Tumblers, Tumble-N-Yoga and

The Artists Corner Gallery will show “Contemporary Friends,” an

exhibit of watercolor and mixed-media paintings by Barbara Lawson and

APRIL 26

The Huntington Beach Playhouse will present “A Man for All Seasons”

from April 26 to May 12. The drama, directed by David Colwell, will show

at 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; 3 and 8 p.m. Saturdays; and 2 and 7 p.m.

The American Lung Assn. of Orange County will present the second

annual Free to Breath Kite Festival on the beach north of the Huntington

Beach Pier from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Well known professional kite maker Ron

Gibbon will fill the sky with his creations. Admission and activities are

free for everyone and children will receive a free kite. The event is to

The West County Family YMCA will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast

from 7 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27 in Huntington Beach Central Park.

Cost is $3 per person. The breakfast will be the first opportunity to

Friends In Service to Humanity, FISH, will host its fourth annual golf

The Huntington Beach Concert Band is an all-volunteer community

organization with approximately 70 members, led by music director Tom

Ridley. Founded in February 1973, the band plays a wide variety of

musical styles -- from classical, to Broadway, to contemporary. They

perform frequently at events and locations throughout Southern

California, including Disneyland, Leisure World, Huntington Beach Pier

Plaza, and Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. The Huntington Beach Concert

Band is open to all interested musicians age 18 and over. Rehearsals are
