Boys volleyball: Artists get past Mesa
COSTA MESA - The Costa Mesa High boys volleyball team played what
Coach Dave Sorrells termed its best defensive match of the season, but
visiting Laguna Beach prevailed for a 15-11, 15-6, 15-17, 15-12 Pacific
Coast League win Wednesday.
Mesa had 59 digs, paced by senior Eli Solis with 17, and played the
Artists virtually even after a lethargic first two games, Sorrells said.
Jeff Collett had 12 kills and six stuff blocks, while Mesa teammate
Carlos Jaime added 12 kills and five blocks.
Solis also served three aces for the Mustangs (9-6, 1-4 in league).
Mesa looks to avenge a four-game loss to University when the Trojans
invade Friday to begin the second round of PCL action.
