Sage Hill wins, 15-5

NEWPORT COAST - Sage Hill High’s Lightning barged into the
semifinals of its own Sage Hill Classic today at 1 p.m. against
Southlands Christian following a 15-5 victory over St. Michaels on
Friday.
After jumping to a 10-0 lead in the first inning on Thursday against
Fairmont, the Lightning struck for eight runs in the first inning against
St. Michaels, and added five more in the third to take a 13-2 lead.
Jordan Salinger struck out eight and went the distance for the
winners.
He also was 2 for 3 at the plate, with a double, a triple and an RBI.
Zach Friedreichs was 2 for 3 with a double and triple, scored three
and drove in two.
Tim Wilkins went 2 for 4 with a triple, scored three runs, had four
RBIs and stole two bases. He’s batting a team-leading .500 for the
Lightning, now 5-5 overall.

St. Michaels fell to 4-5.
Today’s semifinals feature Los Angeles-based Windward and Fairmont
Prep of Anaheim at 10:30 a.m. and Sage Hill and Southlands Christian of
Walnut at 1 p.m. The title game is 3:30 p.m.
