Rowe update: Rowe recovery progressing

NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor High junior baseball player Ryan
Rowe remains hospitalized, but was doing well Wednesday, two days after
being injured in an outfield collision in a Pride of the Coast Tournament
game Monday, Sailors Coach Joel Desguin said.
“He’s still sleeping a lot and he’s a little groggy and he’s not up
and around yet,” Desguin said. “But he’s still doing well.”
Desguin said the family wished to sincerely thank those who have
called or written to express their support and concern.
Rowe suffered a concussion when his head collided with a teammate’s
knee while chasing a fly ball. He underwent surgery later Monday to
relieve pressure created from bleeding inside his skull.
Desguin said he accepted a baseball signed by the Pacifica High
players and coaches to deliver to Rowe after Wednesday’s consolation
title game, won by the Mariners, 8-6.
