A Huntington Beach man is in the hospital with wounds to his right eye
after he was allegedly assaulted by his roommate.
Javier Cruz, 21, remains at UCI Medical Center with lacerations to his
right eye and eyelid after he was allegedly stabbed by Francisco Vasquez,
35, Tuesday morning in their apartment, said Lt. R.K. Miller of the
Huntington Beach Police Department.
Cruz said that Vasquez attacked him with a piece of metal trim.
His injuries are not life-threatening and police are continuing their
investigation, Miller said.
Vasquez was arrested at the apartment on suspicion of assault with a
deadly weapon and is being held at Huntington Beach City Jail, police
said.
A roommate of Vasquez and Cruz called police at 5:37 a.m. Tuesday
reporting the two were fighting and that Vasquez had stabbed Cruz with a
piece of metal trim, Miller said.
When officers arrived they found Cruz sitting on a couch in the
apartment with a severe laceration to his eyelid from a stab wound,
Miller said.
Police are unsure where the metal piece came from that Vasquez
allegedly used to stab Cruz.
