Thomas helps Mets top Rangers

Fred Thomas’ strong all-around performance last weekend was the big
reason the Mets were able to top the Rangers, 4-2, in Majors Division
play.
Thomas pitched a complete game and struck out 16 while allowing just
three hits. He also provided most of the offense for the Mets with a
double, two-run home run and two RBI.
Shawn Stiffler also doubled and Nick Mazzone and Mike D-also singled.
Brayden Kent went two for two and Stuart Chenier singled to account
for the Rangers offense.

White Sox 12, Mariners 1
Michael Bogard doubled twice with three RBI and Chris Kindness doubled
and had three RBI to lead the White Sox; Finau Fiaseu and Nick Gialenes
each doubled for the Mariners.
A’s 8, Diamondbacks 1
Alex Barnes struck out seven in a complete game, Race Parmenter and
Chas Boule each had two hits and Chris Ottens doubled for the A’s; Tanner
Phillips tripled and Trevor Carberry went two for two for the
Diamondbacks.
Mets 3, A’s 1
Shawn Stiffler struck out 13 in a complete-game victory and Ricky
Marin had two hits as the Mets won their season opener.
Diamondbacks 1, White Sox 0
Barry Luke, Tanner Phillips and Kord Weber combined to shut out the
White Sox; Justin Thompson pitched a strong game for the White Sox.
