The Orange County Health Care Agency posted warning signs at five
Newport Beach swimming areas after high-bacteria alerts were discovered.
The agency at 4:30 p.m. issued its warning to swimmers to stay out of
the water at the locations until the bacteria counts come down.
The signs dotted the sand across 300 feet of Corona del Mar State
Beach and at 10th Street Beach in the harbor.
In addition, Alvarado/Bay Isle Beach and two beaches on Balboa Island
registered warnings. The two Balboa postings were at Sapphire Avenue on
the south shore and Onyx Avenue on the north shore.
