Boys basketball: Sage Hill surrenders, 84-45

NEWPORT COAST - Sage Hill High boys basketball Coach Gordon McNeill
said it was the first time his team, “left it all out on the floor,” but
visiting Calvary Chapel of Downey was too much, winning 85-45, to open
Academy League play Tuesday.
Sage Hill junior forward Mike Fitzhugh led the Lightning (3-5, 0-1 in
league) with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Kevin Joyce added
10 points.
Timothy Drisoom, a 6-foot-4 guard bound for the University of Utah,
scored 41 points, including eight three-pointers, for Calvary Chapel
(12-4, 1-0).
Sage Hill will resume Academy League action Friday at 7:30 p.m.,
hosting Capistrano Valley Christian.
