Surf and Sun

WEATHER FORECAST

Though it won’t be as beautiful as Monday, the sun will still shine

and the highs will still reach the low 70s. But clouds will also hang

around. Really, it’ll still feel as though we’ve hit the mid-70s, which

will be great for early January.

Tonight, expect lows in the low 50s. While Wednesday’s looking

slightly cooler, the slight heat wave will resume Thursday.

BOATING FORECAST

While the westerly winds blow their typical 10 to 15 knots in the

inner waters today, with 2-foot waves, the swell should be carefully

monitored. It appears a small-craft advisory will go into effect. The

west swell will begin at 8 to 10 feet early, but the combined seas will

increase to 12 to 14 feet later in the day. Fog, too, may developer late

tonight.

Out farther, areas of fog will be encountered early. Meanwhile, the

northwesterly winds will blow 10 to 20 knots, but the combined seas will

be about 13 to 16 feet. Later, the northwesterly wind will blow stronger

at 15 to 20 knots, and the seas will build to 16 to 18 feet. Fog will

develop again late.

SURF

The latest northwest swell will begin filling today and should bring

in some good chest- to head-high waves. At the standout spots, overheads

should be the norm. The swell will peak Wednesday, making for even larger

surf, so if you’re going to surf this week, that’ll be the time to do it.
