ROBERT GOULET: ‘THE MAN AND HIS MUSIC’
Forty one years ago, Robert Goulet made his Broadway debut in the role
of Sir Lancelot in “Camelot,” opposite Julie Andrews and Richard Burton.
The charismatic baritone’s smooth sounds and the emotion he lent to “If
Ever I Would Leave You” helped make him a star. There are those who say
he’s only gotten better as years have passed.
Goulet will join son Michael Goulet on Saturday in a show titled “The
Man and His Music” at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
“Man of La Mancha,” “Happy Time” (he won the Tony Award) and “South
Pacific” are among the musicals he has headlined. Most recently, he was
heard at the end of the animated movie “Recess: School’s Out” singing the
‘60s anthem “Green Tambourine.” He also is the voice behind “You’ve Got a
Friend in Me” on the “Toy Story 2” soundtrack.
