CORONA DEL MAR - Corona del Mar High senior Jacqueline Becker, a
two-time first-team All-CIF Southern Section Division III setter, will
play collegiately at Yale.
Becker, Tri-Player of the Year in the Pacific Coast League as a
senior, helped lead Coach Bill Christiansen’s squad to a 19-7 record and
a berth in the CIF Division III-A semifinals.
Christiansen regularly praised Becker as one of the best setters in
Southern California.
Yale Coach Peg Scofield, who just completed her 16th season at the
school, won the recruiting battle for Becker, who also considered
Stanford, Columbia, Harvard, Duke and Brown.
Becker, a talented vocalist who has performed the national anthem at
CdM football and basketball games, said she plans to major in music in
New Haven, Conn.
