Club roller hockey: Newport ties Fountain Valley

IRVINE - Newport Harbor High’s club roller hockey team battled to a
5-5 tie with Fountain Valley in a game at the Gretzky Center.
Newport goaltender David Christiansen made 13 saves while Fountain
Valley’s Matt Jankowski made 29.
Chase Kelly scored two goals and had two assists to lead the Newport
Harbor offense. Calvin Anderson pitched in with two goals and an assist.
Vincent Mungo also had a goal while Brett Robinson and Jared McRae each
tallied assists.
Newport was without injured players Alex Crouse and Cory Adler. Brett
Anderson and Alex Whitesides have filled in for their teammates with
strong efforts.
In frosh/soph club roller hockey action:
* Newport Harbor 9, Esperanza 1 - Collin Insley scored three goals and
had two assists while Jesus Sotelo had two goals and two assists. Bryce
Henrie (one goal, two assists), Kevin Harris (two goals) and Kyle
Pfeiffer (one goal, one assist) also contributed to the win. Lindsay
Taylor, Zack Boston and Josh Resnick were strong on defense. Goaltender
Jake Merzoian made 12 saves.
