A 48-year-old Long Beach man was killed when he ran his 1986 Toyota
pickup truck off the road and into a concrete pillar near the
intersection of Warner Avenue and Leslie Lane Monday, police said.
Huntington Beach Police continue to investigate the fatal traffic
accident and would not release the man’s name Wednesday as the next of
kin had yet to be notified.
Witnesses told police that the driver left the roadway, while driving
westbound on Warner for no apparent reason and that he was not breathing
when they came upon him, said Huntington Beach Police Lt. Luis Ochoa.
Citizens and paramedics at the scene attempted to revive the man using
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation but were unsuccessful and he died a short
while later at Huntington Beach Medical Center, Ochoa said.
With minor damage to the truck and the man didn’t appear to have
suffered life-threatening injuries during the collision. Police are
investigating the possibility the driver suffered an unknown medical
emergency and lost consciousness before crashing the truck, Ochoa said.
