- Corona del Mar High senior setter Jacqueline Becker, who led the
Sea Kings to a runner-up finish in the Pacific Coast League, is one of
three PCL Most Valuable Players selected by league coaches.
Becker, a first-team All-PCL and All-CIF Southern Section performer as
a junior, shares the league’s top honor with Laguna Beach seniors Sarah
Salem and Brittany Wood.
Estancia High senior Arlis Reynolds and CdM senior Morgan Smith are
first-team selections, while three Newport-Mesa players are recognized on
the second team.
Reynolds, a setter and middle blocker, was a second-team All-PCL
honoree in 2000.
Smith, who plans to walk on at UCLA, helped the Sea Kings advance to
the CIF Southern Section Division III-A semifinals, where they fell in
five games to Bishop Montgomery to finish 19-7.
CdM senior Eleanor Mack, CdM junior Claire Allen, as well as Costa
Mesa junior Sharon Day are second-team picks.
CdM’s Alissa Zoelle and Lindsay Ensign both received honorable
mention.
