COSTA MESA PLANNING COMMISSION PREVIEW
COMMUNITY OBJECTIVES
The Planning Commission will discuss what items should be considered
community objectives. Members of the City Council asked commissioners to
give their input, so the city can outline goals for the future.
WHAT IT MEANS
People who want to recommend possible community objectives would be
able to speak up during the public comment portion of this agenda item.
Resident input, combined with commissioner’s opinions, would be forwarded
to the council for final review.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Brainstorming and dialogue about possible community goals
CANOPY ORDINANCE
The Planning Commission will review a city ordinance that would change
regulations regarding the use of canopies in nonresidential and
residential zones.
WHAT IT MEANS
Certain businesses and homeowners could be affected by the changes and
asked to either add or remove canopies.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The commission is expected to recommend the adoption of changes to the
ordinance.
THREE-STORY DUPLEX
The owner of an Eastside duplex will ask the Planning Commission for
review of a design to add a rooftop deck on the existing two-story
building.
Bill L. Mason, authorized agent for owner Fabrizio Pauri, will present
the plans for the addition to the duplex in the 1500 block of San
Bernardino Place.
WHAT IT MEANS
The applicant is asking to add a sun deck to the top story of the
duplex, located in a medium-density residential zone. Although it is only
a deck, city codes identify it as a third story. Zoning on San Bernardino
Place limits structures to two stories.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Planning Commission is expected to continue the item to the Dec.
10 meeting.
