AYSO Region 97: Fire consumes Rebels

The Fire burned the Rebels, 4-2, and, 4-1, in AYSO Region 97 boys
under-14 playoff soccer games to win the championship last weekend.
In Saturday’s 4-2 victory, Nick Hendricks had a pair of unassisted
goals. Donny Hunt added two goals with assists from Jake Liddicotte and
Dillon Giedt. Ian Fowler and Nick Weil shared goalkeeper duties and kept
the Rebels under control.
In Sunday’s game, Hunt had two goals with assists from Hendricks and
Chris Womble. Giedt was credited with a deflected header goal off a
corner kick while Thomas Harrington closed out the Fire’s season with a
shot into the corner of the net off of a pass from Mike Madison.
Luke Sequeira sparked the defense. Nick Normandin, Brennen
Snow-Czubek, Justin Whisler, Jacob Silverman and Will Prioleau also
contributed to the victory.
In boys under-14 action:
* Rebels 3, United Blue 2 - Alex Boullon, Jonathan Gordon and David
Garrett scored goals for the Rebels. Wesley Urtusuastegui, Renice Davis
and Phil Garrett dominated the midfield. Jeremy Lewis, Cameron Kilmer and
Ethan Bartolic were strong on defense.
In boys under-12 action:
* Cobra Lightning 5, Raiders 2 - R.J. D’Cruz broke past the Cobra
defense at midfield and scored for the Raiders. Brandon Rowley found the
net with an assist from D’Cruz for the Raiders’ second goal. Jeff Newman
and Morgan Lintz played well on offense. Jorel Porcile, Jordan Hovis and
Brett Adams contributed on defense while goalkeeper Spenser Baratto ended
many Cobra drives. Jeff Cefalia, Peter Nguyen, Mitch Bancroft and Collin
Dennis dominated the midfield.
* Forest Monkeys 3, Crimson Clowns 1 - In an elimination game, the
Forest Monkeys were led by goalkeeper Timothy Regan (4 saves). Preston
Davey, Danny Ingalls and Vinnie Finn scored goals. Offensive support came
from Christian Scott and Taylor Allee. Midfield was controlled by Nick
Verdugo, Spencer Smith and Tommy Hanrahan. Defense was dominated by
Michael Gracia, Justin Faber, Daron Arnold and Tyler Beard.
* Forest Monkeys 2, Cobras 1 - Davey scored with an assist from
Ingalls and Smith added the game-winner on a direct kick. Also strong on
offense were Hanrahan, Verdugo and Scott. Finn and Arnold played well in
midfield. Regan made three key saves in the net. He received support on
defense from Gracia, Faber, Beard and Allee.
In boys under-10 action:
* Lightning 2, Slammers 1 - Steven Miller and Colton Guylay scored
goals to spark the Lightning. Ivan Becerra and Marcos Urquiza made key
passes. Midfield support was provided by Wil Curiel and Brecht Vanthof.
Drew Diller and Matthew DiFrancesca were strong on defense. John Ryder
and Miles Flanders split goalkeeper duties. An injured Patrick Briand
provided support from the sidelines.
* X-Terminators 1, Grinder 0 - Dillan Freiberg scored in the second
quarter. Ryan Albert, Andy Mangano, Kevin Krueger, Garrett Kerr and Cody
Potter made key offensive drives. The defense was anchored by Brian Baca,
Matt Russell, Jake Black and David Martinez. Goalkeepers Will Connelly
and Simon Hedrick made key saves to earn the shutout. Contributing on
defense for the Grinders were Daniel Netzer and Sean Davis.
* Scorpions 2, Highlighters 0 - Easton Giedt and Connor Moy scored
goals. The defense was led by Aaron Fleming, Tyler Luna and Marshall
Wilkinson. Goalkeepers Michael Masarik and Slater Stanley earned the
shutout.
* Scorpions 4, Big Green 3 - The Scorpions overcame a 3-1 deficit late
in the game. Austin Deyan keyed the comeback with three goals and Jake
Manning scored the game-winner in overtime. Slater Stanley was strong in
the net. Ty Neubauer, Collin Pochirowski and Justin Craft were solid on
defense.
In girls under-10 action:
* Green Shockers 6, Roxy Kicks 4 - Kasey DeYoung had four goals and
Valentina Buonanoce had two. Sadye Busby and Sydney Clayton provided
offensive support.
* Pink Lightning 4, Green Shockers 3 - DeYoung had two goals and
Cailea Eisenberg had one. Contributing on offense were Becky Gula and
Jillian Paul. Strong defense was provided by Bonnie Sykes, Stephanie
Havens, Hannah MacLeod, Britney McIntosh and Jessica Hensley.
* Slammers 4, Red Dogs 1 - McKenna Cottam scored the Red Dogs’ only
goal on a penalty kick early in the game.
* Red Dogs 2, Solar Bears 0 - Cottam and Veronica McLean scored
goals. Chelsea Barth, Amy Kanotz, Kaitlin Kehoe and Indy Tamplin had
solid performances. Marianne Jones and Brianna Truxton anchored the
defense. Courtney Francis was strong in the net to earn the shutout.
* Bublicious Babes 6, Arsenal Chicks 3 - Brianna Swartz scored five
goals and Brooke Nelson scored one on a penalty kick for the Bublicious
Babes. Elizabeth Eddy scored three goals for the Arsenal Chicks. Lauren
Grupe created scoring opportunities while Megan Stevenson controlled the
midfield with support from Bridgette Terrebonne, Maddison Brown, Nicole
Perrault and Madeline Reo. The Babes’ defense was anchored by Natalie
Conant, Kayla Greely and Abby Michaelsen. Terrebonne and Bryn Wensley
were solid in the net.
In boys under-8 action:
* The Blue Magicians took on the Silver Surfers and were led by James
Littlefair (one goal) and Nolan Mena (three goals). Paul Tadross (two
shots), Kyle Regan, A.J. Lowder, Tyler Kiehnle, Trevor Magana and
goalkeeper Ryan Shannon also played well.
