Newport Beach police have determined that a 41-year-old Huntington
Beach man found dead in Newport Center on Nov. 5 committed suicide,
officials said Tuesday.
Jeffrey Paris Wall, an attorney with Newport Beach law firm O’Melveny
& Myers, probably jumped off a three-story parking lot in the 600 block
of Newport Center Drive, Sgt. Steve Shulman said.
The Orange County coroner is still awaiting toxicology test reports to
confirm the cause of death. But Shulman said detectives determined the
cause of death was suicide based on the coroner’s preliminary test
results and also because of “physical evidence at the scene and [Wall’s]
conduct prior to his death.”
Shulman declined to offer specific information but said the coroner’s
preliminary report stated that Wall’s injuries were consistent with the
nature of his fall.
Last week, police had said they were investigating the case as a
“suspicious” death and that it could have been a homicide, an accident or
a suicide.
