ORANGE - Corona del Mar High senior Julie Allen set a course record
to win the Pacific Coast League individual championship, leading the Sea
Kings’ girls cross county team to a league crown Friday at Irvine
Regional Park.
Allen finished in 16:53, to break the standard of 16:59, set by Kao
Nekota of Woodbridge in 1991, CdM Coach Bill Sumner said.
Aside from Allen, three other Sea Kings finished with All-PCL honors,
including senior Becky Cummins (17:34), Taryn Kawata (18:45) and Ahlia Kattan (18:47), who all ran personal-bests.
On the boys side, the Sea Kings took second place at the PCL finals.
Kevin Artz led CdM with a fifth-place finish in 15:56.
Both teams will compete in the CIF Southern Section preliminaries
Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College.
