WEATHER FORECAST
A bit of wind and cloudy skies will send a chill across Newport-Mesa
today. Though the sun is expected to peek out at some point, it looks
like it will be a good day to curl up with that nice book and make
yourself a steaming cup of apple cider. The high temperature of the day
will be 69, with winds coming from the west at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight, the
low is expected to be in the upper 50s -- 57 to be exact -- but the winds
will calm.

BOATING FORECAST
Close to shore, the winds are expected to be light and there will be
areas of morning fog. A swell from the west is expected to be 4 feet.
But further out to sea, the National Weather service has put out a
small craft advisory for hazardous seas -- so be careful. Winds from the
northwest are expected at 5 to 15 knots, with wind waves of two feet or
less. A swell of 10 feet from the northwest is expected to last until
well into the night. And there will be areas of morning and nighttime
fog.
SURF
A new northwest swell should help the wave action shape up today.
Waves in the chest-high range should help to make up for Saturday’s
action -- or lack thereof.
