The Pacific Coast Girls Fastpitch Softball league announced that it
has become affiliated with the Amateur Softball Association.
“ASA offers more local tournament opportunities for league
recreational, all-star and travel teams and will enhance the experience
for all girls who play ball during our spring season,” Pacific Coast
league president Ed Dailey said.
The league’s new board of directors for this year are Daily, Jhan Van
Hiel, Todd Engel, Ed Francis, Sofia Stieve, Linda Vitalo, Gary Tolfa and
Barry Mycorn.
Pacific Coast recently incorporated as a not-for-profit entity,
enabling the league to raise tax-deductible funds to support its youth
programs.
“We are seeking local business and individual sponsors to enable us to
(expand) the league and improve each girl’s experience,” said Tolfa,
league vice president for fund raising. “This means better equipment and
specialized coaching for pitching and batting, among other benefits.”
The league will conduct signups for the spring recreational season
within the next two weeks and again in December. The 2002 season runs
February-May. Cost is $90 for ages 8 and under and $125 for ages 9-16.
New players must provide a copy of their birth certificate.
