Jr. All-American Football: Pee Wee Seahawks earn shutout

The Newport-Mesa Junior All-American Football Pee Wee Seahawks

defeated the Mission Viejo Cowboys, 24-0, Saturday.

The Seahawks (6-1) came on strong in the first quarter when Taylor

Sepulveda made a 30-yard touchdown pass to Erik Rask.

In the second quarter, Carlo Valdes ran 28 yards for a touchdown and

Sepulveda connected with Valdes on a 25-yard touchdown pass to give the

Seahawks an 18-0 halftime lead.

Robbie Lusk completed the scoring in the third quarter with a 40-yard

touchdown run.

The Seahawks’ defense turned in their fourth shutout of the year

behind pass interceptions by Lusk and Tommy Folks. Strong tackling was

provided by William O’Brien, Richie Sorenson, Chaz Vickery, Jon Tripi,

P.J. Simpson, Brian Lawler, Steve Deverian, Will Brown and Travis

Prickett.

The Seahawks’ offense moved the ball well behind the solid blocking of

Justin Elbourn, Keifer Fairbanks, Bryce Jardine, Michael Jugan, Jake

Lemmerman, James McKennon, Corbin McNutt, Nick Reese, Frankie Russo,

Jerry Whitney and Colin Wigely.

In other NMJAAF action:

* Junior Midget Seahawks 35, South Bay Packers 0 - John Angelo ran

55-yards for a touchdown on the second play of the game to set the tone.

Ryan Lance made a 30-yard touchdown pass to Matt Reiger and a 42-yard

toucdown pass to Mike Orosco. Orosco also scored on a 28-yard touchdown

run.

Matt Hauser completed the scoring for the Seahawks with a 15-yard

touchdown pass to Matt Burgner in the endzone.

The Seahawks’ defense limited the Packers to four first downs in the

game.

The Seahawks (6-1) face the Rowland Heights Raiders in the final game

of the regular season Saturday at Bonita Creek Field at 3 p.m.
