He was one of the founding members, so it turned out to be a special
honor for Peter and Cathy Green to be named Conservators of the Year by
the Bolsa Chica Conservancy.
“It’s an honor my wife and I are sharing because we’ve both been very
interested in the preservation, restoration and scientific research and
education of the Bolsa Chica wetlands,†said Green, a member of the City
Council and a professor at Golden West Community College.
It is the fourth year the nonprofit organization has given the award
to a member or members of the community who they feel have contributed
greatly to the environment.
Past recipients include Councilwoman Shirely Detloff, environmentalist
Michael Jossleyn and local businessman Ed Laird.
“Dr. Green has been very active in resolving issues at Bolsa Chica,â€
said Adrianne Morrison of the Bolsa Chica Conservancy.
A luncheon will be held Oct. 24 to honor the Greens. The event is one
of the groups major fund-raisers.
“It’s an honor. My wife and I have been actively involved for more
than 25 years beginning with taking our small children down and talking
about life in the mud,†Green said. “We had Saturday morning education
about Bolsa Chica once a month.â€
