(Edison leads series, 22-4-1)

Also tonight:

Los Alamitos (4-2, 1-0)

Marina (2-4, 0-1)

(at Westminster High, 7 p.m.)

Los Alamitos is gaining speed after a slow start to the season. The

Griffins are riding a three-game win streak since losing to Leuzinger.

They dumped Fountain Valley from the ranks of the unbeaten last week,

23-13. Los Al put its passing attack on hold against the Barons and stuck

to the ground with Quinton Jones rushing for 154 yards and three

touchdowns. Look for Tim Bessolo, one of the county’s top passers, to get

back on track in this one. On the flip side, Marina is mired in a

three-game losing streak. The Vikings stayed with Edison for a half last

week before falling, 25-7. Adam Hayward’s blocked punt set up a Turill

Engleman touchdown run. Los Al is the top scoring team in the Sunset

League among teams playing six games -- Edison has played five -- with a

30.8 points per game average. Marina’s defense is surrendering 26 points

per game.

Last year’s score: Los Alamitos 48, Marina 20

SATURDAY

Ocean View (1-4-1)

Santa Ana (1-5, 0-1)

(at Santa Ana Bowl, 7 p.m.)

After being outscored 158-58 in its first four games -- all losses --

Santa Ana broke into the win column last Saturday as five players scored

in a 35-14 nonleague win over Bolsa Grande. But, don’t get too excited:

Bolsa Grande is now 0-6. The Saints will be taking on an Ocean View squad

that last week was tied by Saddleback, 27-27. The Roadrunners were 0-5

heading into that game. Four Seahawks scored touchdowns including Basher

Sarmman, who scored on a 26-yard interception return and also set up

Ocean View’s first touchdown with a fumble recovery. This game might be

the last chance for the Seahawk defense to bring down the 31 points it

has been giving up per game, what with Westminster and Tustin looming on

the horizon. Ocean View is looking for its first win in four weeks.

Last year’s score: Ocean View 24, Santa Ana 6
