Volleyball: Blue Water Grill, Zebras win at Da Dunes

The inaugural Da Dunes Pro-Am Beach Volleyball Tournament in

Newport Beach came to an end Sunday.

Scott Ayakatubby led Blue Water Grill to a victory over Heateme, 15-7,

in the men’s final. Ayakatubby was the MVP in the men’s competition.

Blue Water Grill defeated Wrap It Up, 15-11, in a semifinal game.

Heateme beat Peridian, 15-4, to advance to the final.

In the women’s final, the Zebras beat Carnival, 16-14, 15-8, in the double elimination contest. The Zebras were down by four points early in

the first game, but rallied for the win. The team’s only loss of the

tournament came in an earlier match against Carnival, 17-15.

Kerri Walsh was named the MVP in the women’s competition.

Approximately 2,000 people attended the tournament.
