Badgers rally late to win Campbell crown
The Badgers came up with two goals and shutdown the Blackhawks in the
final period of play to come away with a come-from-behind, 3-2 victory to
win the Campbell Division title.
Gregory Hancock tied the score on a goal off an Austin Heinz assist,
and David Abady scored the game-winning goal unassisted.
Heinz scored the Badgers’ first goal in the first period off a Sean
Froelich feed, and Matt Bodziak finished with 22 saves, including seven
in the final period.
Zachary Beko and Nicole Chittum scored unassisted and Darrell McDonald
had 22 saves for the Blackhawks.
In earlier Campbell Division playoff action, the Blades came up with a
solid defensive effort to blank the Squids, 4-0. Brett Urabe had a goal
and assist, Blake Vanderham, Ashley Earl and Garrick Langer each scored
once and Justin Pederson had 11 saves.
In other championship matches:
Norris Division
Menehunes 6, Net Rangers 4
Lewis Gifford scored two goals and also had two assists, Marcus Kurth
scored twice with an assist, Travis Beckman scored twice, Tyler Allen had
a pair of assists and Connor Parks had 13 saves to lead the Menehunes to
the title.
Austin Harms and Christian Wildey scored twice, Ian Arnold had an
assist and Kyle Morrill finished with 21 saves for the Net Rangers.
Smythe Division
Roller Rebels 4, Vipers 3
Tyler Bertrand scored in an overtime shootout to lift the Roller
Rebels to victory.
It was the second goal of the game for Bertrand, who also had an
assist. Max DeVries scored once with an assist, Hunter Herrick scored
once, Bryan Paranal had an assist and Jake Marsey had 18 saves.
Nathan Bergeron and Tyler Olsen each had a goal and an assist and
Austin Shannon scored once for the Vipers.
Howe Division
Bandits 5, Nukes 3
Tom Moore knocked in three goals, David Airhart and Justin Novakovich
each had a goal and an assist, John Webb had two assists, Airhart and
Michael Mowrey each had an assist and Kyle Bezayiff recorded 22 saves to
power the Bandits.
Ryin Amador scored twice, Mitchel Gonzales scored once, Daniel Ane,
Justin Romers and Jared Hackworth each had assists and Jason Moore had 17
saves to lead the Nukes.
Patrick Division
Kings 4, Flames 3
In another overtime shootout, Jeremey Miller scored unassisted with 39
seconds left to play as the Kings secured the title.
Miller also opened the scoring for the Kings with a first period goal,
Adam Sebrasky and Harry Graves scored one goal each, James Coelho and
David Finney had assists and Geoff Blaskey finished with 28 saves.
For the Flames, Justin Kauffman, Dexter Pattison and David Evans all
scored, Tyler Post had an assist and Ryan Turchi had 30 saves.
Lemieux Division
Extreme 9, Rockers 4
Chad Romers netted four goals and had one assist, Colby Kasubuchi
scored once with two assists, Kevin Tanaka, Eric Shiroishi and Joshua
Heyman each had a goal and an assist, Matt Landon scored once, Eric
Denardo and Greg Earl had assists and Rex Dunn stopped 21 shot attempts
for the Extreme.
Brandon Davis scored twice and Nick McCollom had two assists to led
the Rockers. Adam Daley and Chasen Stanley scored one goal each and Alex
Vongkoth recorded 31 saves.
Wales Division
Blades 3, Lightning 2
Kyle Steinbeck, Kyle Jeffrey and Kyle Bezyiff all scored and Cameron
Monahan had 26 saves to lead the Blades.
Brian Elliott scored both goals, Jordan Wallace and Garrett Ono each
had an assist and Amy Jaeger recorded 23 saves.
Mite Club Division
No Fear 9, Bryan’s Young Guns 5
No Fear outscored Bryan’s Young Guns, 5-1, in the final period to pull
away.
Parker Conant led a balanced No Fear attack with two goals and an
assist, Ariane Yokoyama scored twice. Rocco Grimaldi, Steven Koressel,
Andrew Jackson, Clayton Kanemitsu and Joseph Burkhardt all scored.
Kanemitsu, Yokoyama, Grimaldi and Kourtney Kunichika each had two
assists, Koressel, Aaron Sutton and Jeremy Jennings each had one assist
and Brandon Prince finished with 20 saves.
Matt Deutschmann and John Thompson each scored twice and had assists
and Paul Anderson scored once for Bryan’s Young Guns.
Squirt Club Division
Jokers 9, Assassins 5
The Jokers got three goals from Adam Daley, two goals and an assist
from Jeffrey Deutschmann, a goal and two assists from Michael Mosher, a
goal and an assist from Donald Kohler, one goal each from Bryan Costa and
Michael Burkhardt, three assists from Brad Barber and one assist from
Kevin Lachman.
The Assassins scoring consisted of two goals and an assist by Steven
Tomita and Daniel Ha, one goal by Dakota Eveland, two assists by Wes
Barnes and 14 saves by Joey Laricchia.
