Pop Warner: Junior Pee Wee Black Mustangs blank North Long Beach
The Costa Mesa Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee Mustangs opened the season
with a convincing 19-0 win over North Long Beach Saturday afternoon.
Quarterback Andrew Millian led and offensive attack, while Joshua Erno
scored two touchdowns. Matt Viles had a fumble recovery for a touchdown,
while Brian Simerak, Vince and Joseph Galvez, Coleman Brown, Jim
Swanteuch and Roland Wood led the defensive attack.
In other Pop Warner football action:
Pee Wee Mustangs 6, San Clemente 0 - The Mustangs rushed for 250 yards
en route to the win. Cody Fairfield scored the game’s lone touchdown and
had 93 yards rushing on 10 carries. Antwon Byrd added 64 yards on seven
carries, while Juan Guzman caught two passes for 45 yards. On defense,
Cody Matthews came up with a key interception to preserve the win.
Junior Pee Wee Green Mustangs 12, La Habra 0 - Jordan Palmer and Drew
Bauer each scored touchdown to lead the locals to victory. On defense,
Palmer, Bauer and Jacob Folsom each had sacks, while Michael Areiga had a
key interception.
Santa Ana 21, Mighty Mite Mustangs 14 - Mark Contreras and Jack
Jefferies each had rushing touchdowns for the Mustangs, but Santa Ana
took advantage of six CM turnovers and scored the winning touchdown late
in the fourth quarter.
