AYSO Region 57: Spitfires pull out 2-1 win over Penguins
NEWPORT BEACH - The Spitfires, an AYSO Region 57 boys Division 3
team, pulled out a 2-1 win over the Penguins Saturday afternoon.
Jack Tyson and Andrew Dialynas each scored goals for the Spitfires,
while goalie Philip Bannan stopped 12 shots.
Tough defensive play was turned in by Shian Jalali, Russell Mycorn,
Alex Neff, Grant Heffernan, Andrew Garten, Casey Adamczyk, Scott Feeley,
Jeffrey Livingston and Trevor Swinney.
In girls Division 4 action:
Strikers 6, Purple Pounders 2 - Alisha Agrellas scored two goals to
lead the Strikers to victory Saturday. Other single tallies came from
Chloe Rome, Jacklyn Liberman, Sarah Wesley and Caitlin Roberts, while
goalies Rene Mycorn and Alexa Rome stopped several shots.
Strong, all-around games were turned by Stacee Ballback, Leah
Greenbaum, Blake Gardner, Madelyne Todd and Morgan Wiener.
In boys Division 5 action:
Mako Sharks 5, Black Bullets 2 - Despite fielding only eight players,
the Mako Sharks took a bite out of the Black Bullets, led by three goals
from Chris Freeman. Ryan Peyton added two goals, while center midfielder
Sebastien Welch had two assists and seven saves in goal.
Flying Tigers 5, Killer Bees 1 - The Tigers’ offense was led by Mason
Case, who scored three goals, and Will Morrow, who scored twice.
Strong Tigers’ defense was provided by Austin Jones, Zach Cabin,
Hunter Billotti, Zach Haber and Ian Klug, while offensive support was
given by Trevor Friedman, Zach Socoloske and Nick Matthews.
Mutants 5, Kings 4 - Connor Gaal scored four goals to lead the
Mutanta’ attack. Keyan Jalali added one goal, while offensive and
defensive support came from Patrick Pearson, Jeremy Bowinkel, Matt
Wilkirson, Tony McCoy, Scott Youngman, Kevin Dales, Brandon Rus, Jamie
McKernan and Max Callas.
In girls Under 10 action:
Green Geckos 4, Riptides 1 - Kirby Burnham had two goals to lead the
Geckos, while Annie Rafferty and Kelsey Kaczmarek also added single
goals.
Alison Gordon was the Geckos’ top playmaker, while the defense was led
by Sofie Solow and Betsy Murray.
Shore Breakers 4, Orange Crush 1 - Marta Tena and Ashleigh Smith each
scored goals for the Shore Breakers, while assists were dished out by
Victoria Burkhead.
Solid midfield play was turned in by Kelly Cooper, Erica Phillips,
Elizabeth Barzegar and Savannah Perkins, while the Breakers’ defense was
anchored by Sarah Carvelli, Korinne Korman and Jennifer Zimmerman.
In boys Division 6 action:
For the Blue Rapids, in their matchup with the Red Bombers, Josh
Giger, Zach Murtaugh, Nick Molinaro and Hutton McKenna each scored goals,
while strong all-around play was turned in by Gianni Multari, Jack Gorab,
Daniel Hohl and Matt Larson.
The Green Machine went up against the Blue Galaxy and was led by goals
from Cort Hastings, Ryan Griffin and C.J. Nugent. Strong defense was
turned in by Brent Lawson, Pete Rigas, Blake Grable, Garrett Brewer,
Brian Mull and Davis Case.
For the Yellow Lightning, who opened the season against the Broncos,
Hunter Molnar and Grant Hodgkins each scored two goals, while Jedd
Thayer, Conner Lazar and Cole Kirby each added single tallies. Other
strong play was turned in by Michael Bui, Brook Westervelt, Michael
Doering and Demitrios Ingram.
The Sharks, in their contest with the Lakers, were led by goals from
max Mulcahy and James Christian, as well as a high-octaine defense, led
by Jack McInally, Sammy Silverberg, Teddy Parks and Andy Lewis.
In boys under-7 action:
For the Green Machine, in their matchup with the Stingrays, were led
by Brett Nelson, Nick McGuinness, Wilson Meyer, Chandler Desforges,
Walter Frome, Reed Tucker, Troy Reese and Tyler McPhillips.
In girls under-7 action:
The Blue Dolphins played well against the Alligators and were led by
Olivia Dajee, Kristina Brown, Grace Kennedy, Maddie Hayward and Sara
Machoskie.
