The Newport Beach Police Department is getting ready for the beginning
of a new school year by conducting School Zone Safety awareness programs
for its officers, as well as for teachers and parents in the community.
Effective immediately, the Police Department’s traffic division will
begin the program, which includes enforcement and creates community
awareness. Officers will set up computerized radar trailers near the
city’s elementary and middle schools to monitor speeding vehicles. Also.
motorcycle and patrol officers will hand out citations to violators near
the schools.
School resource officers will work with school staff to convey
information to students’ families through announcements and newsletters.
