Newport Beach Assistant City Manager Dave Kiff is scheduled to speak
today at Shellmaker Island about the issues confronting Back Bay.
Starting at 7:30 p.m., Kiff is scheduled to give a talk called “The
Future of Newport Bay.” The talk will be given at the amphitheater on the
island.
Kiff is set to discuss the problems in the watershed and how to
restore it as a safe environment for wildlife and people. The bay has
been designated as an impaired water body by the Environmental Protection
Agency.
Kiff’s talk is being sponsored by the Newport Bay Naturalists and
Friends. The island is at the end of Shellmaker Road, off Back Bay Drive.
