WHAT HAPPENED:
The school board approved the submittal of an application to the
California Department of Education for the 16th year of funding for the
Alternative Education Outreach Consultant Program, also known as the
district’s Dropout Recovery Project.
WHAT IT MEANS:
There will be funding in the amount of $44,794 through June 30, 2002.
No matching funds are required, and authorization to expend funds upon
receipt is requested.

WHAT HAPPENED:
The board approved a plan by the Huntington Beach Adult School to
submit an application for $250,000 in federal education grant funds to be
used for the Oak View Community Technology Center during the 2001-2002
school year.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The Technology Center Program provides training for low-income,
limited-English speaking adults. Matching funds of 30% are required and
will be provided by the adult school and by the Oak View Collaborative.
Authorization to expend funds upon receipt is requested.

WHAT HAPPENED:
The board agreed to amend the lease with Ocean View School District
for the use of Park View School for the Adult Education and Coast High
School programs. Board member Matthew Harper cast the lone “no” vote.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The lease term will be extended from one year to five years, with rent
increases from 2002-03 forward, based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
