The Orange County Health Care Agency posted warning signs Tuesday
afternoon at Newport Dunes.
The area stretching 300 feet to the north of the pedestrian bridge and
300 feet on the eastern side of the swim area was hit with the postings.
Swimmers are warned to stay out of the water.
The postings were announced at 5 p.m. Tuesday, after the agency found
unacceptable levels of bacteria in the water in those areas.
Current postings are also in effect at 38th Street beach, 19th Street
beach, Grant Street and Newport Slough, and Lancaster Street at Newport
Slough.
